Written Movie Review - Willow

By: Lyvallian

Willow, one of the greatest fantasy movies of the 80’s and of all time. Co-written by Ron Howard and George Lucas, it stars Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer as two of the most unlikely heroes you’ll ever hope to meet. If I was to sum this amazing movie up in one word, if would be “Magical”. This really does have everything, characters you’ll love, great story, Good vs Evil, monsters, and a journey you’ll never forget and one that will aways hold a special place in you heart.

Warwick Davis is Willow, a Nelwyn, who’s life is suddenly transformed when his two children find a little baby girl floating down the river. Willow and his family decide to get advice from the village council and they advise Willow that he should take the baby girl to the Daikini crossroads. So off sets Willow and his fellow travellers with the baby girl. One thing however that Willow still doesn’t yet know, this baby girl is no ordinary baby. She is Elora Danen, and she is destined to defeat the evil Queen Bavmorda.

Once they reach the Daikini crossroads, Willow meets the Daikini Madmartigan, who for some reason is locked in a cage lol. Madmartigan promises that he will look after Elora (yeah right lol), and that he knows lots of women who will help him. Trusting him, Willow leaves Elora with Madmartigan and they go their separate ways. However, not long after saying goodbye to each other, Elora is taken from Madmartigan (told you lol), by two Brownies (fairies). After being captured by the Brownies, Willow is told by Cherlindrea, a good sorceress, about Elora’s destiny. So now Willow is given a simple choice, will he return home or continue to help Elora.

This is one of the best fantasy movies ever. It has something for everyone, and will take you on a journey you will not soon forget. Val Kilmer as Madmartigan is superb, as is Warwick Davis as Willow. There are moments in this that will live long in the memory. The music is majestic, and some of the scenery is breathtaking. If you’ve seen this before, no doubt you’ll want to see it again, and if you’ve never seen it, well, you should get a copy of it as soon as possible, and take a journey that will not only live long in the memory, but will forever hold a very special place in your heart.

I totally agree with you, I’m just thankful I had parents that cool enough to take me to this movie when I was 7-8 somewhere in there, this, Legend, The Prince Bride, and Neverending story always take me back to my childhood every time I see them. The movie has great pacing and music, that once you hear you can’t get out of your head. This was the movie that Ron Howard agreed to never make some one elses movie, so that leads me only to guess what choices he would of made if he didn’t have lucas over his shoulder. This also brought Val Kilmer and his Wife Joanne Whalley together, and there love hat chemistry was undeniable. awesome review

  • I have witnessed that sensible real estate agents just about everywhere are getting set to FSBO Marketing and advertising. They are recognizing that it’s more than just placing a sign post in the front area. It’s really in relation to building relationships with these vendors who at some point will become customers. So, whenever you give your time and efforts to serving these sellers go it alone – the “Law regarding Reciprocity” kicks in. Great blog post.
