The Warriors

The Warriors, this is my all time favourite movie. Originally released in 1979, it was directed by Walter Hill, who later went on to direct classics (or classics in my eyes), such as 48 hrs and Another 48 hrs.
The plotline for this movie is pretty simple. A gang leader by the name of Cyrus is getting all gangs from across New York to come to a meeting in The Bronx. Each gang is only allowed to bring nine members and no weapons, theres, well, a so called general truce. Cyrus’s plan is simple. Unite every single gang and take control of the city of New York. The police force in total only number in the region of about 20,000, however, if all the gangs were to unite, they would number close to 60,000. Not a bad plan I think you’ll agree, but something goes horribly wrong. The leader of a gang called The Rogues, his name is Luther and is played by (David Patrick Kelly), shoots Cyrus and blames the leader of The Warriors. So now, not only is the general truce for all gangs off, but The Warriors are a long way from home, and will have every gang in the city after them, gangs such as The Baseball Furies, Turnbull AC’s, The Punks and of course Cyrus’s gang, the biggest in the city, The Gramercy Riffs.
This is a very fast moving movie with some amazing fight sequences and a killer soundtrack. I know it hasn’t got the greatest plot of all time, but it more than makes up for that in terms of action. The Baseball Furies chasing The Warriors, the look on Ajax face, played by James Remar when he sees them streched out across the road, is quite simply priceless.
If you’ve never seen this, I highly recommended it. It’s only about 1hr 45mins long and some of the action sequences are amazing. It also got a killer soundtrack, awesome fight scenes, and some really cool gangs, one in particular called The Lizzies. It’s a pretty easy movie to get hold of cheap and if you’ve got a spare couple of hours, you could do a lot worse than give this a try.

Got done watching the film this afternoon after falling asleep on it yesterday. I was expecting more because people hyped it up too much.

Honestly, I am voiceless. The Shawshank Redemption is wonderful. I’am a young movie fan, actually, this film come out whenI was very young, and consequently I am more used to films with astounding special effects, edge-of-your-seat action, et cetera. This film has no of that, and nevertheless, it appeals so closely . The way Frank Darabont uses the story of Red to drive on the story, the beauty of the film music applied (note the mouth harp used just earlier Red receiving the letter at the end). The entire movie, from beginning to finish, from actions to music, is a lighthouse of desire, assessment, and repurchase. The cast is perfect, Morgan Freeman(Red) in reality brings about a fresh feel to the film, and that is exactly what the movie is, what a film should be. Really recommended for every movie fan.
